Volt Rings The Closing Bell® at New York Stock Exchange
NEW YORK, May 27, 2010 — Volt announced that it rang The Closing Bell® at the New York Stock Exchange on Thursday, May 27 at 4 p.m. Eastern time. President and Chief Executive Officer, Steven Shaw, joined by Volt Co-Founder Jerry Shaw and members of the company’s management team, participated in the ceremony as part of a series of activities to commemorate the 60th anniversary.
Volt was launched by brothers, William and Jerome Shaw, as a technical writing company with $13 in 1950. Volt entered the public equity markets in 1957, becoming the first staffing company to do so, and was listed on the NYSE in 1997. From a startup entrepreneurial venture with 2 employees, Volt has grown to a $2.3 billion, FORTUNE 1000 Corporation with approximately 32,000 in-house professionals and contingent workers.
Today, operating through an international network servicing clients in North and South America, Europe and Asia Pacific, Volt delivers industry-recognized technologies and outsourced solutions in human capital recruitment, managed service program consulting, IT infrastructure support, hosted contact centers, enhanced directory assistance, telephony/utility infrastructure, and publishing services. Each sophisticated, scalable solution delivered by Volt brings together teams of experts, integrated PMO methods, and rigorous quality processes (including Six Sigma, ISO 9001-2000 and -2008, TL9000 and SAS 70), which enable clients to adapt with speed and agility to opportunities in today’s dynamic business environment.
Steven Shaw, President and CEO of Volt commented, “Sixty years is an incredible milestone for our organization and the opportunity to ring the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange signifies the importance of this achievement. Volt owes its longevity and success to the hard work and dedication of our employees, to our valued clients, and to our shareholders for their unwavering support.
“When my uncle and father, Bill and Jerry Shaw, started Volt, they were determined to create a company based on hard work and an uncompromising commitment to quality. Although Bill is no longer with us, Volt continues to grow based on the entrepreneurial vision of the Shaw brothers. Jerry Shaw’s principles and dedication have been instrumental to the company’s growth since its inception, and he continues to be an inspiration to our organization on a daily basis. As we celebrate Volt’s sixtieth anniversary, it is an extreme privilege to work with my father and honor the memory of my uncle by continuing to build on the foundation they created.”
A live webcast of The Closing Bell ceremony will be available for viewing on the homepage of the NYSE’s Web site at www.nyse.com beginning at 3:59 p.m. Eastern time.
