Michael D. Dean (President and CEO) was most recently Chief Executive Officer of Nature's Sunshine Products, Inc., where he revitalized the global health and wellness company and returned it to growth. He also served as a director on its board and a member of its audit committee. Previously, Mr. Dean was Chief Executive Officer of Mediaur Technologies, Inc., a privately-held satellite technology company that provides proprietary antenna system solutions for commercial and government applications. Before Mediaur, Mr. Dean was Executive Vice President of ABC Cable Networks Group, a multi-billion dollar global division of The Walt Disney Company, where he ran all of the division's non-creative operations including Affiliate Sales and Marketing, Finance, Legal, Broadcasting Operations, IT, Human Resources, and Business Development. Earlier at Disney, he was Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategic Planning, responsible for all corporate strategy, development, and M&A in Disney's broadcasting, cable, and film studio businesses. Before Disney, Mr. Dean was a strategy consultant with Bain & Company. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School. Mr. Dean brings to our Board substantial managerial, operational and strategy experience.
Jerome Shaw co-founded Volt in 1950 with his brother, and has been Executive Vice President since 1957 (when the present company was organized). Mr. Shaw served as Secretary from 1957 until 2014 and has been employed in executive capacities at Volt since 1950. He continues to provide valuable leadership through his deep understanding of our business, operations, services, products, customers, suppliers and employees. Mr. Shaw served on the Board of Directors from April 2012 to May 2015.
Paul Tomkins has been our Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer since March 2015. From 2011 to 2014, Mr. Tomkins served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Reader’s Digest Association, Inc., where he oversaw all aspects of finance and accounting and played an integral role in managing a number of important non-core business divestitures. Prior to his role at Reader’s Digest, Mr. Tomkins spent 27 years at AT&T, where he most recently served as the Vice President and Controller of AT&T Business Solutions and previously held a number of other financial management positions. Mr. Tomkins is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the NJ Society of CPAs, and FEI. He earned his MBA with an emphasis in International Finance from Seton Hall University.
Sharon H. Stern has been our Senior Vice President of Legal Affairs since May 2014 and our Secretary since June 2014. Immediately prior to joining the Company in May 2014, she was a partner at the law firm of Troutman Sanders LLP. Ms. Stern has over 25 years of legal experience focusing on corporate governance and business litigation matters. Ms. Stern holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the State University of New York at Albany and a Juris Doctor degree from the New York University School of Law.
Louise Ross has been our Vice President of Human Resources since September 2006 and has been employed by the Company in executive capacities in its human resources departments since 1993. Prior to joining Volt, Ms. Ross held various management positions in human resources with extensive experience in program development, compensation/benefits, employee and labor relations, and employment law. Ms. Ross was an adjunct professor for the New School University graduate management program in Human Resources. She also taught compensation and employee benefits for undergraduate programs. She holds a Master’s degree from the New School University in Human Resources Management and an undergraduate degree in business management from Marymount Manhattan College.
Kevin Hannon has been our Vice President and Treasurer since March 2015. Previously, he was our Assistant Treasurer since January 2008. Prior to joining Volt, Mr. Hannon was an Assistant Treasurer and Finance Manager with Atlas Copco North America, Inc., and also gained extensive financial regulatory experience as a bank examiner with the US Treasury Department. In addition to undergraduate degrees in Business and Economics, Mr. Hannon obtained his MBA from Rutgers Business School in Strategic Management and Finance, and he also has the CTP (Certified Treasury Professional) designation.
Bryan Berndt has been our Controller and Chief Accounting Officer since April 2015. From April 2012 until March 2015, Mr. Berndt was the Controller and Chief Accounting Officer of Reader’s Digest Association, Inc. From 2008 until December 2011, he was Treasurer and Vice President of Finance at Bowne & Co., Inc. Prior to 2008, he was Controller of Loews Cineplex Entertainment and a Senior Manager for PricewaterhouseCoopers. He is a Certified Public Accountant and Chartered Global Management Accountant. He holds a Master's degree in Taxation from Fordham University and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Public Accounting from Pace University.
Rhona Driggs is Senior Vice President of North American Staffing for Volt Workforce Solutions. She leads all commercial and technical staffing offices in Volt’s North America division, overseeing market sales and recruiting, as well as new business development, MSP/VMS Program Support, MSP/Strategic Account Collaboration, and Operations Solutions. Rhona, a 25-year staffing industry veteran, began her career at Volt as a Regional Manager, opening the company to several new markets, including her native Minneapolis. Her expertise in selling and managing very large MSP/VMS programs has created a proven track record of leading sales, large client management, and recruitment and delivery in markets across the United States.
Stephanie Elliott is Chief Operating Officer for Volt Consulting Group and VMC, and is a seasoned executive with success in organizational leadership across most divisions of Volt, since joining in 1991. She is currently focused on Volt’s outsourced solutions divisions, and is ultimately responsible for the financial performance and growth of these two divisions, along with the service delivery to our clients globally. Stephanie taps into a unique combination of expertise in financial management, business development, operational leadership and strategy to lead her business units. Stephanie started her career with Volt in Finance, has led both corporate functions as well as field operations in past roles, such as Senior Vice President at Volt Europe and Volt Asia and Vice President at Volt Workforce Solutions.
She is a graduate of Arizona State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and earned her MA in International Affairs from American University of Paris. With more than 20 years of industry operations and leadership experience, she is recognized for successfully building both traditional staffing and MSP businesses in the US, Europe and Asia. Stephanie is an industry leader with deep experience and knowledge of multiple regions, having been based both in the US and Europe. Stephanie previously served on the board of the industry trade association, APSCO and has been recognized by the Staffing Industry Analysts as one of the 100 most influential people in the staffing industry as well as a member of the Global Power 100 Women in Staffing.
Richard joined Volt in January 2006 and was appointed Managing Director for Europe and Asia in 2010. With more than 25 years’ experience in the recruitment industry, and particular expertise in professional practices such as IT and Engineering, Richard understands the challenges faced by organizations in sourcing the right talent in a highly competitive business climate. Richard also has extensive knowledge of running multi-sited operations across international markets, and experience in the provision of managed service and recruitment process outsourced solutions.
With a passion for service quality and continuous improvement, Richard is a Six Sigma Champion and has twice been elected to serve three-year terms on the Board of the industry trade association APSCo (the Association of Professional Staffing Companies). He held the role of Deputy Chair in 2008 and Chair for the term in 2009/2010. Richard was named as one of two individual contributors to APSCo in 2009 in recognition of his support for the association.
Frank began his career in IT Services with RCA Computer Systems in 1967 and moved on to become one of the founders of Maintech. With over 40 years of IT Services industry experience, Frank's hands-on technology knowledge and highly focused business development expertise has guided Maintech to success. He has always endorsed a simple axiom of the service business: "To be successful requires a clear, unwavering market focus, a strong brand identity, and a commitment to concentrating resources, both intellectual and capital." With that guidance from Frank, Maintech has become recognized as a world-class Independent Services Organization (ISO) delivering IT Infrastructure Services to the most demanding clients around the globe.
Frank was named Chief Operating Officer of Maintech in 1988 and rose to the office of President in 1990. He is an active member of a number of IT Industry trade associations and is a recognized speaker at trade conferences. Frank is a former Chairman of the Board of the Service Industry Association (SIA) and remains active with that organization in its quest to level the playing field for all ISOs.
